How Logo Files Are Delivered & Work

Graphic designer development process

Branding and corporate identity are the personifications of your organization. Designing a logo for your brand is the first official step into how the world sees your business. Once your logo is designed, presented, and ready for use, your business can start building brand recognition and trust. But, when working with a marketing agency, it’s important to understand how logo files are delivered and how they work.

Making the Logo for Your Brand

Brand logos are a powerful statement about who you are and how you are positioned in the mind of your customer. With so many different brands vying for attention in a crowded marketplace, it requires originality, invention, and risk to stand out and be noticed.

At Branding Arc, we work side by side with our clients to reinforce your organization’s brand message through your logo. This approach provides a clear and consistent application of your branding to position your organization in the marketplace and in the mind of your customers.

Logo Design

The process designing (or redesigning) a logo involves three main steps:

  1. Initial consultation
  2. Creation and delivery of design options
  3. Edits and design finalization

In the initial consultation for your logo, we work with you to find out what your vision is as well as your goals of how you want to be perceived in the marketplace. From there, our team will discuss some different design avenues that can be explored and, based on your responses, we will develop an overall direction for your logo design.

Once we have designed a few options for your review, you will receive an email with a design card as well as links to the individual designs so you can take a closer look at them one by one. All of the design aspects (icons, colors, fonts, etc.) from these options can be mixed and matched depending on your preferences. After you come back to us with your thoughts, we will finalize your design and send you a logo card along with your completed logo in three different  style versions: positive, negative, and alternative.

The Logo Card

Your detailed logo card demonstrates the use of the three versions on different backgrounds.

Positive Logo – for use over light colored backgrounds

Negative Logo – for use over dark colored backgrounds

Alternative Logo – for use over backgrounds in your logo’s color

Because you can’t always control how your logo will be displayed via your partners, clients, or customers, it’s important to have a versatile logo.

Your logo card will also break down each individual color or color gradient presented in the logo and provide detailed font information, so your future marketing materials can match your new branded logo.

Various Formats

When it’s time to deliver the official logo files, we will deliver each version of the logo in multiple formats to ensure that every time your logo is needed, the right size, file type, background, and color are all correctly labeled and available.

We focus on three key formats: PNG, EPS, and AI.

PNGs are created in a wide variety of sizes from 150 to 1000 pixels (px). We can provide logo sizes moving in increments of 100px to match the perfect size for any use including Glassdoor, Indeed, and other web profiles.

EPS files are vector files for high-quality printing and marketing materials. Branding Arc provides your logo in an EPS format so that other graphic designers are able to edit, manipulate, and print your logo as your organization sees fit. These master files are vital for ensuring your organization can iterate and innovate your logo whenever a transition is needed.

While the EPS files give graphic designers a master file for high-quality printing, Branding Arc also provides the original AI files. These AI files, or Adobe Illustrator files, are the master files for your logo. This is the original artwork and design of your logo that we provide so you may request alterations or changes as needed.
